This document describes the Core Experiment 8 (CE8) on “Viewable SDR testing”.  An identified use case and requirement of high-dynamic range (HDR) video is the potential to provide bit-stream compatibility with legacy HEVC decoders.  This means that the decoder should provide a standard-dynamic range (SDR) image when presented to a legacy HEVC decoder under typical operating conditions.  This scenario does not provide a reference SDR image allowing a direct evaluation either in terms of quali

This document describes the exploratory experiment 7 (CE7), established at the 113th MPEG meeting, on investigating how to generate compressed HDR/SDR video using Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) transfer function and HEVC. The goal of the CE is to
• Clarify how HLG can be used on MPEG test sequences
• Generate HEVC Main 10 compressed video bitstream(s) using HLG
• Do informal evaluation of the visual quality of HDR and SDR displayed video

This document describes the core experiment CE6 on HDR post processing approaches. The CE relates to HDR and WCG video coding technologies and focuses on the reconstruction of an HDR video with the output decoded video from an HEVC Main 10 decoder.
In this CE, only solutions that operate as pre-processing to the encoder and post-processing to the main10 decoder are considered.

This document describes Core Experiment 5 (CE5) on HDR video coding. The aim of CE5 is to investigate the use of alternative colour transforms and sampling filters are compared to the anchors. Performance will be measured using the common test conditions and objective metrics. Subjective assessment will be optionally conducted as opportunity permits.

This document describes the core experiment CE3 on objective metrics for HDR/WCG video coding evaluation.  This experiment focuses on analysis of the performance of selected luminance and color metrics.  Correlation with subjective testing of CfE responses will be conducted.

This document describes the core experiment 2 (CE2) on normative 4:2:0 YCbCr NCL fixed point for HDR Video Coding established at the 113th MPEG meeting. This document describes the core experiment on normative solutions for HDR video coding.

The goal of this CE is to identify and investigate methods for the optimization of the HEVC Main 10 coding of High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Wide Color Gamut (WCG) content without any specification changes. Given this investigation, it is expected that improved HDR/WCG anchors will be produced, as well as a document providing recommendations of best practices for HDR/WCG processing and encoding given the current HEVC specification.
