What is the MPEG-4 FlexMux?

Part name:

The FlexMux is a tool that provides a flexible way of interleaving packets of data. It is not meant to be robust to errors, because it can be layered on top of a robust transport layer. The FlexMux is fully defined by MPEG-4, but its use is optional: applications can operate directly on top of a traditional transport layer (formerly called "TransMux") if they so desire.
