SEI messages

This draft amendment to the HEVC standard specifies an additional supplemental enhancement information (SEI) message called the shutter interval SEI message.

The shutter interval information SEI message indicates the shutter interval for the associated video source pictures prior to encoding and display, e.g., for camera-captured content, the shutter interval is amount of time that an image sensor is exposed to produce each source picture.

This document contains the draft text for changes to the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard (Rec. ITU-T H.265 | ISO/IEC 23008-2) to specify a shutter interval information SEI message. The shutter interval information SEI message indicates the shutter interval for the associated video source pictures prior to encoding and display, e.g., for camera-captured content, the shutter interval is amount of time that an image sensor is exposed to produce each source picture.

This Recommendation | International Standard specifies the syntax and semantics of supplemental enhancement information (SEI) messages. The SEI messages defined in this standard may be conveyed within coded video bitstreams in a manner specified in a video coding specification or may be conveyed by other means as determined by the specifications for systems that make use of such coded video bitstreams.

This proposed draft amendment (PDAM) defines an additional supplemental enhancement information (SEI) message called the annotated regions SEI message. The annotated regions SEI message carries parameters that identify annotated regions using bounding boxes representing the size and location of identified objects.

This document contains the draft text for changes to the Advanced Video Coding (AVC) standard (Rec. ITU-T H.264 | ISO/IEC 14496-10) to specify additional supplemental enhancement information (SEI) messages for content light level information, equirectangular projection, cubemap projection, sphere rotation, region-wise packing, omnidirectional viewport, SEI manifest, and SEI prefix, along with some corrections to the existing specification text.

This working draft amendment is for adding an additional supplemental enhancement information (SEI) message to the Advanced Video Coding standard (Rec. ITU-T H.264 | ISO/IEC 14496-10) for specifying a "content light level" SEI message, as is already defined in the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard (Rec. ITU-T H.265 | ISO/IEC 23008-2).

This proposed draft amendment of the HEVC standard (Rec. ITU-T H.265 | ISO/IEC 23008-2) will specify additional supplemental enhancement information to assist in processes related to decoding, display or other purposes. The initially planned content for this amendment includes specification of SEI messages relating to the following topics:
• Content colour volume, describing the colour characteristics of the video content.

This proposed draft amendment of the AVC standard (Rec. ITU-T H.264 | ISO/IEC 14496-10) specifies an additional Supplemental Enhancement Information (SEI) message for colour remapping information, which enables remapping of the decoded colour samples of the output pictures. The colour remapping information SEI message is already specified in a similar manner in the HEVC standard (Rec. ITU-T H.265 | ISO/IEC 23008-2) and will be defined similarly for AVC.
