This proposed draft amendment of the HEVC standard (Rec. ITU-T H.265 | ISO/IEC 23008-2) will specify additional supplemental enhancement information to assist in processes related to decoding, display or other purposes. The initially planned content for this amendment includes specification of SEI messages relating to the following topics:
• Content colour volume, describing the colour characteristics of the video content.
• Motion-constrained tile sets extraction information, identifying how spatial regions of the coded video content can be extracted to form separate conforming bitstreams that represent these spatial regions.
• Omnidirectional 360° projection, identifying a projection mapping correspondence between the rectangular decoded pictures and a geometry in 3D space such as a sphere.
• Region nesting, indicating the application of other SEI messages to spatial regions within the decoded pictures.
