2128 AHG on Computational Graceful Degradation (CGD)
Mandate: To further perform CGD experiments in order to extend the application of CGD support techniques to visual SNHC and synthetic audio. The main goal of this activity is to find parameters that are able to quantify intrinsic complexity. These could then be used for:
  • the definition of CGD information
  • to quantify profiles and levels

To finalize and verify the implementation of CGD syntax in the video reference software.

  3. Continue to evolve the SASBF in collaboration with the MMA.
  4. Develop complexity metrics and establish levels for the Structured Audio profiles.
  5. Continue to address the issue of using the Back Channel in Structured Audio.
  6. Review and help to progress those aspects of FCD ISO 14496-4 pertaining to Structured Audio.

  1. Develop the IPM&P within MPEG-4
  2. Draw new interested parties into the process for the protection and management of intellectual property within the 2nd phase of MPEG-4 (e.g. Broadcasters, Book Publishers, Serials Publishers, Music Publishers, Photographic Publishers, etc.)
  3. Further develop the Intellectual Property Management & Protection Framework within MPEG-4 version 2
  4. Define the content, the syntax and semantics and the proper place of the »Intellectual Property Management & Protection Objects« within MPEG-4 bit streams
  5. Publish by 15th May on the reflector the specifications as developed at the New York meeting for review by members.
