  1. Further develop the MPEG-7 audio core experiment procedure, unify with the universal MPEG-7 CE procedure, and identify applications as bases for evaluation;
  2. Carry out the CEs in docs M3082, M3083.
  3. Further pursue obtaining additional test material to be used for MPEG-7 audio core experiments;
  4. Develop the audio descriptor framework by further identifying & classifying audio descriptors;
  5. Identify any new potential MPEG-7 audio core experiments; and

Mandate:
  1. Provide a clear definition and role of each DS which is part of the revised Semantic DS, possibly providing examples for explanation.
  2. Debate on the exact definition of the concept DS, so that a unique interpretation can be provided.
  3. Debate on the composition of the State DS and whether it provides a necessary functionality.
  4. Clarify how semantic information can be embedded in segment DS, in particular whether attaching a SemanticDescription DS is the most appropriate way.
  5. Get feedback from participants involved in the Validation Experiment on Semantic DS.

  1. Evaluate the role of watermarking in multimedia applications.
  2. Evaluate applications (and business models) that require watermarking technologies and categorize these applications into some subgroups with similar requirements
  3. Evaluate the needs for standardization for these applications
  4. Evaluate the needs for standardization in MPEG
  5. Evaluate requirements for each application domain, e.g.,
  • Perceptual quality – visibility/audibility
  • Robustness – ability to be detected after some signal processing operations, e.g., compression, digital-to-analog conversion, knowing that the algorithm will be published
  • Resilience – ability to be detected after some malicious attacks
  • Capacity – amount of information per picture/audio blocks
  1. Define evaluation methodology
  2. Evaluate whether existing technologies fit these requirements
  3. Mandates 1, 2 and 3 should be treated with priority.

  1. Continue to develop the table of key issues which address interoperability from the consumers’ perspective and the identification of applicable enabling technologies.
  2. Preparatory work to produce a WG11-internal Call for Information (scheduled to be issued at the end of the 51st WG11 meeting) for submissions to be included in the Technical Report. It is intended that responses to the CfI should address areas of potential standardisation within the Multimedia Framework as viewed from the consumers’ perspective

  2. To make an assessment of relative significance of these applications to MPEG-7

  4. To cluster the applications based on these extracted requirements
  5. To assess what is the required level of interoperability between the clusters.
