Facilities fee

For practical, organizational and planning reasons, advance payment
of facilities fees is highly encouraged, in order to allow organizers to
prepare adequate quantities, and also to be able to negotiate a competitive
price. The facilities fees are:
Before 31st December 2008: 650 CHF
From 1st January to 31st January 2009: 800 CHF
Onsite: 850 CHF

Conference bags and kit including international power adapter
All meeting facilities including Wireless internet access, A/V equipment for presentation and other business services.
A sponsored social event is organized on Wednesday, to which delegates are cordially invited. Additional social event tickets for accompanying persons can be purchased separately for 120 CHF.
Parking tickets can be bought onsite for the duration of the meeting, for 15 CHF.
Refund in case of cancellation
The refund policy is in accordance with the Wg11 guidelines, namely:
Refund at least 90% of the fee if cancelled with more than or equal to 3 weeks in advance of the meeting
Refund at least 70% of the fee if cancelled with less than 3 weeks in advance of the meeting
Registration Desk
Registration desk for the meeting will be indicated by arrows when arriving at EPFL, and will be opened from Saturday January 31st till Friday February 6th, during working hours (8:30am-5pm).
All participants are kindly asked to check their pre-registration status received by email (meeting and social events), and inform the organizers in case of any problems.
Badges
Delegates and accompanying persons will receive a badge showing their name and country/liaison represented. All participants are requested to wear their badge during the meeting.
Social event
Delegates and accompanying persons are kindly invited to attend the social event which will be arranged for the delegates. The detailed information about the social event will be announced later.
Accommodation
Accommodation is to be organized under participants own responsibility. Here is a list of hotels that we recommend:
As client of any hotel in Lausanne, you will receive the Lausanne Transport Card, which will give you free and unrestricted access to all public transport services in the city (bus, train, metro) for the duration of your stay.
Secretariat (administration desk)
A Secretariat (administration desk) Administration Desk will be at disposition of delegates to offer information and to answer to your requests during the meeting. All participants can use fax, computer, internet, photocopier, etc.
Meeting facilities
To support electronic working methods, each meeting room will be equipped with power outlet, beam projector, screen and Internet through WIFI.
Transportation
How to get to Lausanne
Geneve-Cointrin is the nearest airport (40-60 minutes). The train from Zurich Unique Airport takes approximately 2h 30 to go to Lausanne. From these airports, you can take a train to Lausanne. By car, on the motorway, follow direction "Lausanne-Sud", exit "EPFL".

Once in Lausanne, how to get to EPFL
Take the metro M1 from Lausanne Flon to EPFL, or from the Renens train station to EPFL. There is about one metro each 10 minutes during the day.

There are some parking places (paying) for visitors available under l'Esplanade, and along the Avenue Piccard. Car parks indicated by the green "P" symbol are reserved for holders of a special card. Parking tickets can be bought onsite for the duration of the meeting, for 15 CHF. However, we recommend you to use the public transportation.

The climate is moderate with no excessive heat, cold or humidity.
Spring and autumn: 8 to 15°C (46 – 59° F)
Summer: 18 to 28°C (65 – 82°F)
Winter: -2 to 7°C (28 – 45°F)
It is highly recommended to visitors to pack a sweater and a compact umbrella and/or a light rain coat.

Currency and Credit cards
The Swiss currency is the Swiss franc (CHF). Coin denominations are:
5, 10, 20, 50 cents (100 cents = 1 franc)
1, 2, 5 CHF
Bank notes are 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 1000 CHF
1 CHF is equivalent to around 1.5 EUR and 1.1 USD
All major credit cards are accepted in most of hotels, restaurants and shops.
Electricity
The current used throughout Switzerland is 230 Volts (AC), 50 cycles. Most power sockets are designed for three pin round plugs. The standard continental type plug with two round pins, applied for many electrical travel products, may be used without problem. Adaptors are available in most hotels.
