1859 Adhoc group on Structured Audio developments.
Mandate: 1. Complete editing on subpart 5 of CD 14496-3 and the associated software in CD 14496-5.

2. Continue providing guidance to the Ad-Hoc Group on Scene Description, especially with regard to providing implementation of the Audio BIFS nodes.

3. Progress the evaluation criteria for Structured Audio tools described in document N1852.

4. Conduct a detailed technical comparison of the MIDI Manufacturers Association Downloaded Sounds standard and the method (SASBF) described for analogous functionality for Profiles 2 and 4 of CD 14496-3 subpart 5, in collaboration with MMA experts, as described in documents N1852 and the liaison statement to the MMA.

5. Encourage independent implementation of the main profile (Profile 4) of CD 14496-3 subpart 5 and subsequent bitstream exchange between differing implementations.

6. Evaluate proposed new tools for Version 2 of MPEG-4 Structured Audio.

1897 Ad Hoc Group on content-related IPR Issues in MPEG-4
Mandate:
  • Draw new interested parties into the process for the protection of IPR within the 2nd phase of MPEG-4 (e.g. Broadcasters, Book Publishers, Serials Publishers, Music Publishers, Photographic Publishers, etc.)
  • Conduct a complete analysis of MPEG-4 with respect to IPR Requirements with the view to providing the appropriate set of ¯general purpose hooks® to facilitate the creation of ¯secure and trusted MPEG-4 machines® and supported systems.
  • Issues to be canvassed include:
  • Persistent protection of IPI Data Sets;
  • Management of IPR, conditional access, permissions, transactions, user authentication and addressibility;
  • Audit trails and modification history;
  • Integrity and authenticity of IPI Information, IPR Information, modification history information and payload;
  • Real time issues and synchronization;
  • Interfaces between MPEG-4 and external systems (e.g. CORBA, DCOM, COM, etc.);
  • External security systems, watermarking and cryptography.

Mandate: Harmonize Representation of time and decoder configuration between Systems, Audio, Video and SNHC
  • Analyze the possible divergences in syntax and semantics of the notion of time and decoder configuration information in the MPEG-4 framework,
  • Propose solutions to harmonize the semantics and to reduce possible redundancy between the Systems layers and the Video/Audio/SNHC layers,
