Main results of Atlantic
City meeting
MPEG-2
- The conformance testing of DSM-CC (part 10
of MPEG-2) has been finally approved and sent to ISO.
MPEG-4
- Version 1 of MPEG-4 Systems (part 1),
Visual (part 2), Audio (part 3) and DMIF (part 6) have
been finally approved. The Reference Software (part 5)
will be approved at the March 1999 meeting to give
sufficient time to align the software to the textual
parts of the standard. The Conformance Testing (part 4)
is still under development
- Because of its proven maturity the
Intellectual Property Management and Protection was
introduced in version 1
- Several real-time implementations of
MPEG-4 applications were demonstrated at the meeting
- The "Speech" and "Audio on
Internet" verification tests have been successfully
completed.
- A new workplan for MPEG-4 Verification

- A collaboration with IETF was started to
achieve optimised carriage of MPEG-4 objects on RTP
- New Working Drafts of the four parts of
MPEG-4 version 2 standard has been approved.

- The MPEG-7 Call for Proposals has been
published
